Watch what your Facebooks and Twitters

In one of my classes, three women who work for the Peoria Chamber of Commerce came to talk to our class about networking as we are approaching graduation and job-searching.  One topic they hit hard on was keeping your Facebook and other social media forms like Twitter and Blogs clean.  They gave numerous examples of how people have been exactly what they want in an employee and they simply lost the opportunity because of the inappropriateness of their Facebook.  I am always trying to watch what I post and keep it clean, but you also have to keep in mind what other people post on your wall.  We are all associated with some idiots on facebook who feel it is necessary to post about their drunken lives.  Just felt I'd share this as we are all in the process of finding a job and let you know how important it is to keep it private, clean, and watch who you accept as friends!!

Cabin Fever

This past weekend I got the chance to get attend a East Peoria's first annual indoor music festival, Cabin Fever.  I never say pass up an opportunity to go listen to live music, so I gave it a shot.  I have been to many shows around here and done the camping experience, but never have I been to an indoor music festival.  They had a total of 20 bands that played throughout the weekend.  Some people camped out inside the area, but we thought that seemed a bit weird.  Overall, it was a different experience, but I always have a great time when I am with good friends.  For it being the very first trial they did a pretty good job, a few things could be changed if they decide to do it next year.

We have school this week?

Going to a full week of school seems to be quite a change from last week.  I never thought I would see the day where we had not one, not two, but THREE snow days!!!!! It was unreal; we survived our very first blizzard experience in Peoria.  Peoria weather seems to always over-exaggerate when they predict a snow storm, but they hit the nail right on the head this time.  I had to attend a total of two classes all of last week.  It was great.  Makes the count down of school days to our graduation date go by that much faster.
This week has already been jam packed with school, work, group projects, the job fair, and my second interview.  Making it go by fast, without a second to spare.

Our days our numbered.....

So the other morning I had my very first phone interview for a job post-graduation with Von Maur for their Executive Training Program.  I was so nervous, I could barley sleep the night before.  Turns out, it went very well and I just found out today they are asking me for the second round of interviews!! I couldn't be happier, just makes me realize how quickly the real world is approaching, such a bitter-sweet feeling.  I am ready to move forward with my career path but I just don't want to grow up and face the real world quite yet. I decided to share this on here because I know so many of us are feeling the same thing with majority of the class being seniors. Who wouldn't give anything to go back to freshman year, living the life back in U Hall, those were the days.
